Year 2008

Armoiries On Sunday, August 3rd, 2008: Pont d'Ouilly

To weave links in other occasions than in France or in England during "official" exchanges, The Committe organized a trip with five Calashes.

August 3rd, 2008 it is 36 participants who met at around 10.30 am (10H30) on the Parking of the Street "des Prés Guillet" and it in spite of a cloudy weather.

The five calashes arrived at suite with energetic crews and ready to leave.
We left at around 11h30 at the sound of the Horn of Hunt of Jean DUMORTIER, for destination : "Leisure Site of Canoë-Kayak" of Pont d'Ouilly .

Crews led by Daniel LEMANCEL left for a trip of around one hour and a half on the so touristic but sinuous road of the Valley of the Noireau.
Patrick and Cathy DUJARDIN on their motorbikes ensured security of the Caravan.

To transport the materiel necessary for picnic, some cars also set off to join Pont d'Ouilly.
Calashes got out of Condé-sur-Noireau , but on their road, many pedestrians or drivers, were turning round to see them.

We were crossing through Pont-Erambourg, then by Cambercourt until the "Pont-des-Bordeaux"..
From this fork(junction) the walkers appreciated quietly a small path bucolic which follows the Noireau up to "The Planches".

Then we returned on bitumen up to the entrance of Pont d'Ouilly and arrival at about 1.15 pm (13H15) in "Leisure Site of Canoë-Kayak" .

There, some people were in charge of horses which had deserved a good repose and the others went to prepare the places to share meal together in the best conditions.

The weather not very stabilized at this instant, in unanimity, it was decided than it is more safe to put the tables under the tent in case ! … We were well inspired because at the instant, when drink was served by the members of the Committee it fell a torrential rain typical of our Norman Switzerland.

Then each unpacked its picnic sharing the bread, the butter and good ... mood..

Meal was very agreeably livened up by numerous interpretations of Jean DUMORTIER with Horn of Hunt.

Happy Birthday with honours was also wished by assistance to Mr and Mrs JEANNE active members of the Twinning for 20 years and which have celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on this day.
Bravos to them two, always so dynamic and ... so young.

To put everybody in conditions to play, if we can say, the assistance was invited for to estimate the length "d'une véritable Andouille de Vire" . We attended curious situations, where each seemed to have its very particular method to measure in comparison with ... but what ...else ???
In final there is our friend Marianne, helped by her daughter, this two British ladies living in France not far from Condé-sur-Noireau, which estimated with a big precision the mensurations of the andouille, beating our friend Daniel BLAIS on the thread.
The winner decided very nicely to announce for the two challengers : Victory ex-aquo and share trophy equal. Congratulations were friendly.

Then the sun having made its comeback, on the field of maneuvers , small-one and big-one for to meet together for the first game.
Traditional Run in Bags competition between two teams fiercely, but victory in equality .

Then game of throwing of balls where points were very difficult to mark, in spite of the unaccountable slidings of targets towards the pitchers, the ground should be a bit unstable !!!

One of the favourite game of Twinning, "Tire-à-la-Corde" where twice over the same team won.

A game then allowed to do a refresh, even by accident!
In couple, a man the bandaged eyes , he hold the arms of a small calash two wheels and a lady, sat inside with elegance and she had to guide him only with ropes passed under his shoulders.
This on a racecourse definitely difficult and tortuous, interspersed with traps.
The purpose of game, be run on the racecourse and to try to make it with the least possible of handicaps (or bad-points) .
Easy you will say, and definitely not, because the lady must use only the rope to drive her horse, it is forbidden for her to talk with him, but of course not for the public who hastened to put mess in the harmony of the couple.
Few these crews reached the end without having crushed some cones of signalling under their wheels.
And to cap it all, when the horse was well-driven, he arrived quietly but suddenly at... the river and he received ...the content of a good bottle of water on the mane.
I would not give you the tiercé-winner, the referees were unable to decide on it, because of the excesses of the public.
But nevertheless I can assure you that everybody really had a very well good time !

To finish a little more calmly the day, QUIZZ was offered to the participants, agreeably installed by Family under shades.
Questions were divided in several topics, Condé-sur-Noireau, the Valley of the Noireau, Pont d'Ouilly, the Horses, the Kayak.
The small grey cells were put in very hard tests and the winning were all held in a pocket handkerchief. A small rain forced assistance to take a shelter the time of results.
Per families the winners received each a good bottle of wine.

In the vicinity of 6.30 pm (18H30) all this small world took back the calashes for return directly by the Valley of the Noireau. The last participants arrived at on the Parking of the Street "des Prés Guillet" around of 8.00 pm (20H00).

In the opinion of all this day was a success, a very good ambience and of the good mood to be sold retail..

Still one big thank you very much for the two Daniel : LEMANCEL and BLAIS as well as to their three nice companions without whom this day would not have been able to exist, because calashes and crews were put "gracefully " in disposition for our biggest pleasure.
Sirs, once more thank you very much for this present !

Thanks also to Jean DUMORTIER who distracts us with a real pleasure during his interpretations with Horn of Hunt, even if it is well necessary to confess it, his dog, the poor dog, did not appreciate a lot !!! What a pity !

Therefore we all hope for it, soon to find us together !

ArmoiriesOn September 6th, 2009 - A Day of relaxation
"Base Nautique de Kayak" - Pont d'Ouilly

This year for reasons of schedule, the Committee decided to organize this day in September.

Thus in this Sunday, September 6th , 2009, 27 participants met themselves at 12:00 am in the "Base Nautique de Canoë-Kayak" in Pont d'Ouilly .
The sun almost in the top and the summer temperature, confirmed that the Indian summer was well back in Normandy.
For this new edition of outdoor day, Daniel LEMANCEL had already forwarded one of his horses on the site. A secure surface was marked out about developing the horse in good conditions of safety.
In this way, the horse was already available to make a little riding school according to the new-comers.
A tent was reserved for our intention to stay in any comfort. The idea was to leave most time possible for the relaxation in group or in individual.
According to the arrivals, each help to perfect the installation places, to share the meal together in the best conditions.
This year it is the strong sun which incited us to stay inside to avoid the sunstrokes..
The apéritif was offered by the Committee .
Everybody settle down at table for the picnic by sharing the bread, the butter and the good... mind.
A Happy Anniversary was wished to Mrs Paris, the mother of Dominique and many felicitations were made by the participants to Dominique and Sylviane celebrating this day one of their Wedding anniversary.
To begin gently, a game of skill set the women to the men. The women took it brilliantly.
Not to break the good usal, the teams again met themselves for a second game.
The traditional but always so funny "Course en Sac" setting the women against the men. Fought with energy, the ladies have be defeated of few by leaving the victory of this set to the sirs.
Then with boxes just painted by Dominique, the women and the men again opposed with this set "le chamboule-tout".
And well, the women were the best without any contesting in this game there!!!
To take back strengths after such efforts, a non-specialized "Quizz" was proposed to the participants.
A second musical "Quizz", left the teams on their hunger, because 2 points only separated the teams.
But, these sirs were the winners, because the first one quizz was unmistakably for them
To finish, a last childish play "le casse-têtes", finally exhausting the participants.
Final result: equality of both teams...
Throughout the after noon everybody was able to exercise his rider's talent, no fall to be regretted, only of the happiness!
Then, having tidied up quickly places, around of 5:30 pm both took the road of return towards Condé sur Noireau.
With honesty this day was made a success, good atmosphere and cheerfulness, on magnificent Sunday " between friends ".
One thank you to Daniel, Dominique and Sylviane which prepared us nice games to amuse us.
Thanks to all those who joined us for this day and goodbye to find us still together.
