53 Citizens from Ross-on-Wye spent the weekend of May 1st, 2011 to Condé-sur-Noireau for this 33rd year of Twinning.
Here is a small report of these 4 days of reunion in Norman Ground, as usual in a warm and brotherly atmosphere.
Friday, April 29th, 2011:
In agreement with the major theme of Normandy, in this year of 2011, and it on the occasion of the 11th centenary of Normandy, about ten persons had dressed up fashionably médiéval : valiant knights, gentes ladies, kind gallants and attractive damsels so welcomed our British friends delighted with this attention.

The traditional Welcome gift, this year it was about a good bottle of cider, decorated with an attractive small apron, in memory of this vintage year 2011, was offered to our visitors of Ross-on-Wye.
For information: aprons were cut and sewn by Cathy DUJARDIN, Sylviane PARIS has preparing the sewing of the way for the series of color apricot and Jacqueline DESHAYES, Chaiwoman of the " Amis des Cheveux Blancs " realized the embroidery.
A fast "Pot d'Accueil", all the same little in the narrow on the landing of the first floor of the City hall, then after all this fatigue and these feelings, all scattered to meet in family to close this first day.
On Saturday, April 30th, approximately 80 persons visited the Museum of the Small Toy train of Clécy: model, norman crêpes and cider bowl, a stroll by small train, everything to indulge itself.
Another about ten persons, them were in confrontation in a party of very nice petanque.
At about 7:00 pm, Condéens and Rossins joined the gymnasium Robert-Gossart for a delicious Buffet - Dancing concocted by Lichtlé Traiteur Flers
Diverse animations livened up the evening: tombola and especially the karaoké which took away a striking success.
For the juniors, " Evening Olympiads " in a near room.
So they relaxed and had fun freely without their parents !
On Sunday, May 1st, for all was a "free" day.
Each was able to organize this day as one pleases by disregarding the bad weather.
On Monday, May 2nd, at around midday thirty, all left with the tear in the eye as usual.

January 10th, 2011 - Directorate 2011
The Administrators in charge, and the other, elected or reelected during General Meeting, had a meeting on Monday, January 10th, 2011 to undertake the nomination of the Members of the Office.
Here is therefore the composition of the Council's Office 2011:
Chairwoman : Sylviane PARIS
Vice-chairwoman and Secretary : Catherine DUJARDIN (Webmaster)
Assistant Secretary : Edith LAURENT
Treasurer : Denis NODET
Assitant Treasurer : Dominique PARIS
Members : Chrystèle CAHOUR, Fabrice CAHOUR, Louis LAUMONIER et Roger LESNE
Member representing the Town Council: Marie-Thérèse LAUMONIER
Member representing the Tourist Office: Christiane MARC.
This year the favorable weather conditions allowed forty five members of our association to be present during the General Meeting 2011.
Chairwoman Sylviane PARIS welcame first of all all and thanked the participating members of their presence.
She then presented all the events of year 2010.
First of all our award in the category "Cultural" of the "Trophées Associatifs Condéens 2010", when the organization of ceremonies for the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Twinning, in May, 2009 to Condé-sur-Noireau was noticed and rewarded by the members of the jury.
This distinction was the obtention of a Trophy which the Chairwoman presented to the participants and a price of 300€.
Then sequence souvenirs with our last stay in British ground from 16 till 19 April 2010, when 114 Condéens moved to Ross-on-Wye for this 32nd year of Twinning.
To be more precise: 75 adults and 39 young people, of whom a small team of 14 young soccer players (U15) coached by Louis LAUMONIER and Thierry LEGENDRE. Good weather, varied and friendly animations left us with all very pleasant memories.
Then small return on our outdoor Day in the "Base Nautique de Pont d’Ouilly" on Sunday, August 1st, 2010 with 45 participants, a reserved but dry weather, nice animations and good-natured for all. In brief a last good day all together!
The financial balance sheet of year 2010 was presented by the Treasurer titular, Denis NODET. The accounts 2010 were approved by the full discharge of the General assembly.
Then the calendar of the visit 2011 of our friends "Rossins", from April 29th till May 2nd to Condé-sur-Noireau, was presented by the Vice-chairwoman, Catherine DUJARDIN.
The theme will be in touch with the 11th centenary of the creation of Normandy (911 - 2011). We shall inform our members during the next months which come to this subject.
Our friends will arrive on Friday, April 29th at about 6:00 pm. Welcome's drink to the City hall, then dispatching in families.
The afternoon of Saturday, April 30th will be for theme and the dancing-dinner will take place in the evening in the Room Robert Gossard from 7:00 pm.
On Sunday, May 1st will be left free to families to organize their timetable in their will.
Ross Citizen will restart on Monday, May 2nd, 2011.
Then as regards the renewal of the members of council the outgoing third was constituted by Catherine DUJARDIN, Claude PARIS and Dominique PARIS.
Catherine DUJARDIN and Dominique PARIS agreed to represent himself and they were accepted by all the participants of the General Meeting.
Claude PARIS, not wishing any more to be a member of the Office of the Committee, its post became vacant.
Roger LESNE's candidacy was unanimously proposed and accepted by the assembly.
Native of Saint-Malo, Roger and his wife live in Normandy since about ten year. Welcome to the new member of council.
The members elected Council are therefore for 2011 :
Chrystèle CAHOUR, Fabrice CAHOUR, Catherine DUJARDIN, Louis LAUMONIER, Edith LAURENT, Roger LESNE, Denis NODET, Dominique PARIS, Sylviane PARIS.
And also, according to the statutes of the association, appointed by Mr Allizard, Mayor of Condé-sur-Noireau: Marie-Thérèse LAUMONIER, member representing the Town council and Christiane MARC, member representing the Tourism office
The Vice-chairwoman also presented to the full discharge of the General Meeting the modifications of Statutes realized by the Council of Administration to facilitate the composition of the Council of Administration in case of lack of candidacy in administrators' posts. Henceforth a number included from 6 to 11 members will allow the Council to work against 11 imperative members in the previous statutes. Also henceforth is enough a single member of the General Meeting for proposing a modification of the statutes against a quarter of the members of the General Meeting in the previous statutes. These modifications thus go in the right direction and the full discharge of the General Meeting was given for these two modified articles. Modified articles will thus be passed on to the sub-prefecture in the days which come.
The traditional Twelfth-Night pancake enclosed pleasantly this nice meeting.
Infos diverses :
The PPS of the wishes of the Committee of Twinning was visible by all on big screen.
Cards of English-style Wishes were also proposed to the participants. But also of new Cards of Wishes for 2011: views of Condé-sur-Noireau and representations of three watercolors of our friend painter Jean-Pierre GIRONDEL. These novelties collected a frank success.
The next meeting of the Council to appoint the Members of the Office on January 10th, 2011.
On Sunday, August 1st, 2010 - Outdoor Day "Base de Plein Air" - Pont d'Ouilly
Further to the opinion poll realized in spring, the date of this first Sunday of August had been choosed by our Committee to organize this day of outdoor relaxation.
Thus in this Sunday, August 1st, 2010, 45 participants met at 12:00 am, in the "Base de Plein Air" in Pont d'Ouilly .
A little bit despondent sun at first and a little bit fresh temperature for the season, confirmed that August could not compete with that so warmly of July.
For this edition 2010, a big tent was reserved for our intention for Picnic in any just comfort in border of Noireau, in a bucolic place.
For the continuation of the day a closed privative play area was also provided us with.
The apéritif was offered by the Committee.
Everybody settled down for the picnic by sharing the bread, the butterand "la bonne... humeur".
To begin, a new gameThe Throw of Boots setting the women to the men.
In fact it is a question of technique: put a foot in a boot, and throw it farthest possible
Some did not understand the rules of the game and thrown the boot in the air. Others had difficulties raising the boot above ground level.
After a good party of fun, it is necessary to admit that the men won of a short ... boot!!!.
Not to break the good manners, the teams again met for a second game.
The traditional Tir à la Corde setting the team of the Chairwoman to the team of the Vice-chairwoman. But a strong "physical" disproportion allowed the team of the Chairwoman to remove both rounds, by annihilating so easily the opposite team.
Some bruises on veins and blisters to fingers, but especially many roars of laughter.
Then in the choice of the participants: "pétanque" by team or cricket in individual.
And it is necessary to say that it occupied well us all.
The funny situations made a lot us laugh, it is crazy what a small ball can make us turn in ass.
In fact the "green" was "rustic" really bumped, hollows, copses, pebbles, really all that it was necessary to obtain a catchy game.
To continue, the women and the men again opposed with the game "chamboule-tout".
And well, each adapting a little the line, the young ladies were the best without any contesting in this game there!!!
For the juniors then, a new game : the pinned T-shirt.
The bandaged eyes we have to find and catch all the clothes pegs fixed randomly to the T-shirt of the opponent, and naturally by preventing him from catching your own clothes pegs on your T-shirt.
A story to be pinned as a matter of fact!
Then, having clean up quickly places, around of 6:30 pm some with the others took the way back towards Condé sur Noireau.
Successful day, good ambiance and cheerfulness, on magnificent Sunday " between friends ".
Thanks to all those who joined us for this day and goodbye to find us still together.
All the photos of this day are HERE.
From 16 till 19 April 2010 to Ross-on-Wye
114 Condéens moved to Ross-on-Wye for this 32nd year of Twinning.
To be more precise, in this cool in the morning at about the 5:30 am, we counted: 75 adults and 39 young people, distributed in two buses.
Among them we had a small team of 14 young players of football ( U15) supervised by Louis LAUMONIER and Thierry LEGENDRE. Anecdotally these young people had put a lot well since last December to finance a part of their journey in England. For the record they had held a stand in the Christmas market 2009. It thus goes without saying that they were not little proud to meet there!
Here is a small report of these last 4 days across the Channel under a radiant sun and very spring temperatures, in one warm and brotherly atmosphere, in family as a matter of fact.
Friday, April 16th, 2010:
Upon our arrival on the boat, we proceeded to the Drawing lots of Membership Cards 2010. The winners are Helen and Albert HOOTON (our deans for this journey). Their prize: the repayment of the price of the journey for a person. For 12€ of stake it was worth participating. Congratulations to the winners.
We had a very difficult sea during the crossing, with numerous sick, but a so warm atmosphere on arrival to Ross-on-Wye after this endless trip.
Embraces, reunion, some speeches of Presidents Sharon CLAYTON and Sylviane PARIS, Mayors also John EDWARDS and Pascal ALLIZARD.
The traditional welcome gift, this year a magnificent linen bag embroidered by Mrs Jo FOWKES of Ross's Twinning, offered to all the families of Condé-sur-Noireau.
In return three watercolors offered by a painter of Condé-sur-Noireau, Jean-Pierre GIRONDEL, and realized to offer specially to Sharon CLAYTON (Chairwoman of the English Twinning), to John EDWARDS (Mayor of Ross-on-Wye) and to Pascal ALLIZARD (Mayor of Condé-sur-Noireau). They were put handed through Vice-president Catherine DUJARDIN, ex-student of the artist.
Alan WOOD, photographer of Web site " Wyenot.com " realized a photo of the group. This allowed to measure the narrow-mindedness of the room, we were well many indeed to want " to enter in in his magic box ".
Then after all this fatigue and these feelings, all scattered to meet in family to close this beautiful day.
Saturday, April 17th:
With all day a magnificent sun.
Free morning in families, and initiation into the Cricket for 14 young football players Condéens.
Then at 2:30 pm a big match of setting "International" level 13 of our young football players Condéens to a team of young people Rossins (Ross's coach had 22 players at his disposal).
The match was very competed and of very beautiful quality. Even the not passionate persons got hooked and the encouragements did not miss from the spectators stood around the ground, each encouraging the team.
The whole in a perfect agreement and with fair play. That of the pleasure for all!
There are many "big" players who would do well to take it as example...
In the final Score, Condé-sur-Noireau won by 3 - 2.
Appreciation: very technical teams .
The best players were respectively congratulated for Condé-sur-Noireau, Maxime LEGENDRE, captain and for Ross-on-Wye, Dexter CHURCHUS, left back.
Late in the afternoon, official inauguration to the Museum of Ross-on-Wye of the Room dedicated to the Twinning between Ross-on-Wye and Condé-sur-Noireau.
The watercolor realized by Jean Pierre GIRONDEL to offer specially to the Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, thus joined in this opportunity all the presents exchanged for 32 years between our two cities.
The evening dedicated to the traditional dinner in common, was livened up by a typical group " The Poachers ". The dancers also had the privilege to discover "Barn Dance", this under the leadership of the very nice Fiona, singer, dancer and the bilingual presenter.
During the evening, Maxime LEGENDRE (ESMC Condé) and Dexter CHURCHUS (Ross Football Team) received each the Trophy of Better Player of the Match.
The coaches Condéens Louis LAUMONIER and Thierry LEGENDRE were also rewarded, as well as all the players of both teams by the Mayors of the two towns.
All this under the applauses of the public.
Sunday, April 18th:
After noon, a treasure hunt in Ross-on-Wye, directed by Richard and Jenny COOK, more a tournament of Pétanque, organized by the Professional team of Ross-on-Wye gathered everybody under a magnificent sun and in a very pleasant place: Bowls Club.
After noon ended with "Afternoon Tea " in Larruperz Centre prepared by a local association.
In a friendly atmosphere, "diplomas" were awarded to the participants of these two competitions.
But many people regretted not having been able to make the parrot speak about "Sir Richard the Parrot" by fear of the wrath of "Lady Jenny the Red".
Then return in families for the last evening to Ross.
Monday, April 19th:
We left at about 9:30 am, always under the sun but with "a little wet" good-byes.
The return took place well, with a calm sea which allowed us to take advantage at most of the crossing and especially nobody was sick...
On arrival to Ouistreham, small problem with the Bus A which had a problem of compression on the hydraulic system.
It remained blocked in the low point on left side and in position road to the right.
Result little of roll and reeling for the passengers and a speed reduced to be last 60 km in safety.
At 11:30 pm, finally reached destination to Condé-sur-Noireau, we left happy to have returned to good health but also with a lot of nostalgia.
